Monroe Township: Currently have a very similar to Jefferson Township’s too Rushcreek Township: Currently have no wind turbine specific zoning in place. Presently no structures taller than 2 ½ stories can be erected there. Champaign County – Union Township - Currently have a very similar to Jefferson Township’s too lenient Zoning Resolution Amendment in place. Concerned citizens are attempting to work with the township officials to re-write the zoning into a more responsible amendment. Logan County - Jefferson Township: 01/10/08 - Currently a very lenient Zoning Resolution Amendment that would allow a turbine to be placed close enough to fall upon your home is the law governing wind turbines in Jefferson township. The US Government’s National Research Council recommends ½ mile set-backs! A large contingent of land owners signed a referendum petition asking to vote of this amendment, and it is not on the March 4 ballot. Voters need to vote NO to reject the current zoning! There have been attempts by the 19 people who seek to benefit financially from the turbines, to keep the 1420 registered citizens from voicing their opinions, but their protest was rejected by the Board of Elections, so the referendum vote will be held on March 4, 2008. It is essential that every registered voter go to the polls to vote on this issue. You have until February 4 to register to vote, and you can find the forms online at: http://www.sos.state.oh.us/sos/PublicAffairs/eVRform.pdf. The issue is that the current amendment creates dangerous and reckless conditions to all of the residents of our township. See Danger, Danger, Danger for information about this amendment. We need to reject this amendment and work together with all parties to create new regulations that will protect and benefit the citizens in our community. See the dangerous Brown Zoning Resolution Amendment that is currently in place, and see page 3 of this website for examples of wind ordinances that offer protection for their communities.
